When a virus is sent to any one of your email addresses, IE Internet's MailWall system will stop it and send
you an email telling you that this has happened. This email is called a 'virus notification'. If you turn this
option on, then whenever you are sent an email containing a virus you will be notified.

The advantage of turning on your virus notifications is that MailWall is designed to also stop emails which
have suspicious files attached. A suspicious file may look like a virus, but may not in fact contain a virus.
In such a case, the email is quarantined, but may be safe for you to download. By receiving a virus notification
about such an email, you could release it from its quarantine, using the emails's ID and reference number detailed in
your virus notification. If you have virus notifications turned off, on the other hand, you would not be aware that
emails have been stopped by the MailWall's anti-virus system.
